As a cooperative, we trade a sector of living products. At Plantion, we value people and the environment. That’s why we actively invest in Corporate Social Responsibility. Based on climate-neutral operations, we generate energy using solar panels and wind turbines and use a combined heating and cooling system. As a result, our gas consumption is extremely low and our CO₂ emissions are minimal.

We also make conscious choices in our daily processes. Our company vehicles meet emission standards and we offer charging facilities for electric vehicles. For packaging flowers and plants, we use recyclable or biodegradable materials. In this way, we are taking steps towards a future-proof, sustainable supply chain.

At Plantion, we generate sustainable energy with 18,500 solar panels, accounting for 25% of our consumption and achieving an annual CO₂ reduction of 325 tonnes.

Waste separation

At Plantion, we place great importance on sustainability and responsible waste management. That’s why we have four collection points where you can dispose of waste separately. Our buyers sort their waste into paper and cardboard, plastic film, trays, and plastic pots and buckets.

For collecting plastic film, you can purchase plastic waste bags at Dilwijn Alflora in the Wholesale Centre. When you provide your customer number, you will receive your first rolls free of charge, both at the Plantion reception for auction buyers and from wholesalers in the centre.

In this way, we contribute together to a cleaner and more sustainable environment.

Sustainable cultivation

We encourage our suppliers to adopt environmentally friendly cultivation practices, with a strong focus on soil health, water use and reducing the use of crop protection products. In addition, we guide and support them on their journey towards certification.

Sustainability working group

At Plantion, we take active steps to make the floriculture chain more sustainable and future-proof. Our Sustainability Working Group plays a central role in this. This team, made up of colleagues from various departments, develops and implements concrete sustainability initiatives.

The focus is not only on practical improvements within our organisation, but also on increasing awareness among employees and other stakeholders. By sharing knowledge, identifying opportunities and initiating projects, we are working together to make Plantion greener and more sustainable.
