Our organisation
Plantion is a cooperative with approximately 306 Dutch growers of flowers and plants as members. They are the key stakeholders and form the foundation of our organisation through their craftsmanship and products.
Within the cooperative, continuity, transparency and long-term value creation are central. Members are closely involved in business operations and strategic decision-making, enabling Plantion to respond effectively to developments in the floriculture sector.
1917
The history of the auctions behind Plantion dates back more than 100 years. Over time, many smaller regional flower auctions merged into larger regional marketplaces.
2008
Flower Auction Oost Nederland and Auction Vleuten joined forces to form Plantion.
2010
Two years after its founding, Plantion consolidated its locations in Bemmel and Utrecht into the current, strategically located site in Ede. This central and easily accessible location strengthened our position: we retained existing growers and buyers while attracting new customers from across the Netherlands and neighbouring countries.
Today
Plantion’s building is a true landmark along the A30: an elongated, gradually rising structure that places the flower and plant sector firmly in the spotlight.
Offices, auction rooms and the Wholesale Center are centrally positioned around spacious covered parking facilities, allowing customers to purchase everything in one visit within a welcoming, personal environment.
Council of the Future
Plantion’s Council of the Future was established in November 2021 as a sounding board for the organisation. The council consists of growers and employees, working together with young professionals from the floriculture sector to explore future-proof and sustainable entrepreneurship.
This ensures we stay closely connected to the sector and can respond effectively to developments both within and beyond the floriculture industry.
